Harvia vs HUUM Sauna Heaters: How the Two Ranges Compare
We carry sauna heaters from both Harvia and HUUM: electric heaters and wood-burning stoves. This page puts the two ranges side by side on the points that decide fit: rated output, electrical supply, room size, controls and warranty. Every figure comes from the manufacturer's own manuals, data sheets, product pages or warranty terms, and where we do not hold a figure, the page says so. It does not rank the brands. The right heater is the one whose published figures fit your room, your supply and the way you want to control it.
Side by side
| Topic | Harvia | HUUM | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Electric heater lines | Cilindro, Club, KIP, Spirit, The Wall, Vega Compact, Virta, Virta Combi and Virta Pro. Browse the range in the Harvia collection. | CLIFF, CLIFF Mini, CORE, DROP, HIVE, HIVE Mini, STEEL and STEEL Mini. Browse the range in the HUUM collection. | The exact model and version on its product page: some models share a name across outputs and supplies. |
| Rated output we hold | At 240 V: 3.5 kW (Vega Compact 240 V) to 14.8 kW (Club K15G 240 V). At 208 V: 4.5 kW (KIP45W 208 V) to 20 kW (Virta Pro HL200E). | At 240 V: 4.5 kW (DROP 4) to 18 kW (HIVE 18). At 208 V: 3.4 kW (DROP 4) to 13.5 kW (HIVE 18). | Output is matched to room volume, so start from your room rather than from the brand. |
| 208 V supply | Some Harvia heaters are separate 208 V products. Harvia's 208 V ratings we hold: Club K10G 208 V (9.8 kW), Club K15G 208 V (14.4 kW), KIP45W 208 V (4.5 kW), KIP60W 208 V (6 kW), KIP80W 208 V (8 kW), Virta 11 208 V (10.5 kW) and Virta Pro HL200E (20 kW). | HUUM's 208 V ratings we hold: CLIFF 6 (4.8 kW), CLIFF 9 (7.1 kW), DROP 4 (3.4 kW), DROP 6 (4.5 kW), DROP 7 (5.6 kW), DROP 9 (6.75 kW), HIVE 12 (9 kW), HIVE 15 (11.25 kW), HIVE 18 (13.5 kW), HIVE Mini 6 (4.5 kW), HIVE Mini 9 (6.75 kW), HIVE Mini 11 (7.9 kW), STEEL 6 (4.8 kW), STEEL 9 (7.1 kW) and STEEL 11 (8.5 kW). HUUM's US manuals for the CLIFF Mini and STEEL Mini lines print a separate table of output and room size for a 208 V supply. We do not hold those figures yet, so they are not repeated here. | Your building's supply, confirmed by a licensed electrician, then the output and room size the manual gives for that supply. 120V or 240V explains the difference. |
| Room-volume ranges we hold | At 240 V: 70.5 cu ft (Vega Compact 240 V) to 1,000 cu ft (Club K15G 240 V). At 208 V: 100 cu ft (KIP45W 208 V) to 1,130 cu ft (Virta Pro HL200E). | At 240 V: 106 cu ft (DROP 4) to 989 cu ft (HIVE 18). At 208 V: 89 cu ft (DROP 4) to 742 cu ft (HIVE 18). | That your room falls inside the exact model's published range, at both ends. The sizing guide lists every range we hold, and the sizing calculator works out your room's volume. |
| How the heater is controlled | Built in on the Cilindro PC60, Cilindro PC80, KIP45B, KIP60B and KIP80B, per Harvia's US product pages. Where the control is separate, the Harvia manuals we hold for the Cilindro, Club, KIP, Spirit, Virta and Virta Combi lines name the Harvia control units each model may use: the CG170, CX30, CX30C, CX45 or CX170, depending on the model and supply. For The Wall, Vega Compact and Virta Pro, we do not yet hold a Harvia document that names the control. | HUUM's heater manuals for the CLIFF, CLIFF Mini, DROP, HIVE, HIVE Mini, STEEL and STEEL Mini lines call for a certified control panel designed for an electric sauna heater; they name no model, and no control is included with the heater. For CORE, we do not yet hold a HUUM document on its control. | Whether you want the controls on the heater or on a separate panel, and that the control you choose is one your heater's own manual names. Controls are in sauna heater controls. Which control works with my heater? |
| How much heater one control drives | Harvia publishes a maximum heater load for each control unit, and for some units it depends on the supply and on how the heater is wired to the control. Check that figure in the control's manual against your heater's output. | On its own, the UKU drives heaters up to 11 kW, per HUUM's UKU manual. The HIVE 12, HIVE 15 and HIVE 18 also need the UKU Extension Box, as HUUM's documents agree. Above 9 kW and up to 11 kW, HUUM's documents disagree on whether the Extension Box is needed, so ask us before you order a HUUM heater in that range. | Your heater's output against the control's published maximum, at your supply. |
| Warranty | 2 years for heaters, steam generators and control units (family use), per Harvia's published warranty terms. The terms add: “Additional 1 year for registered electrical heaters.” | 3 years for heaters and control units (family use), per HUUM's published warranty terms. | Which use your heater falls under in the maker's terms, any registration step they describe, and the warranty shown on the product page. |
| Wood-burning stoves | Cauldron, Cilindro, Legend, Linear, M3 and Pro lines, among others. | HIVE Flow, HIVE Flow Mini and HIVE Wood lines. | A wood-burning stove runs without an electrical supply or control; its manual sets the chimney, clearances and stones. See wood-burning stoves. |

What this page does not state
- Rated output not held: Harvia Club K12.5G, KIP80W 240 V, Spirit SP90E, Vega Compact 120 V, Virta Combi 11 and Virta Pro HL160E; HUUM CLIFF 11, CLIFF Mini 4, CORE and STEEL Mini 4. We do not hold a manufacturer figure for these yet, so ask us before you order.
- Circuit, breaker and wire sizes: these come from the heater's installation manual and a licensed electrician. 120V or 240V explains how to check a model.
- Wood-burning stoves: their heat output and room size are not compared here; each stove's manual gives its own.
- Harvia Fenix controls: we do not yet hold a Harvia document that pairs one with a heater we carry.
- Pairings across brands: each brand's heaters are shown here only with that brand's own controls. For any other combination, send us both model numbers before you order.
- Prices and delivery timing: these change, so they are not on this page. Request a quote for both brands side by side.
How to compare particular models
- Work out your room's volume with the sizing calculator.
- Check each candidate's published range in the sizing guide.
- Put them side by side in the electric heater comparison tool.
- Open each model's manual on our manuals page and confirm the supply and the control it names.
More about each brand is on the Harvia and HUUM brand pages. Still deciding? Request a private quote and we can price the two side by side, or call or text 727-677-5331.
