Which Sauna Control Works With My Heater?
A sauna control sets the temperature and on-time of an electric sauna heater. Some heaters have their controls built in; others run from a separate control, and the heater's manufacturer says which controls may be used with it. This guide lists only pairings a manufacturer publishes for the exact heater model we carry, taken from our compatibility records, which are built from manufacturer manuals and product pages.
6 of the 19 products in our sauna heater controls range have a heater pairing published by their manufacturer for an exact heater we carry. For the others, we hold no manufacturer document that names that exact control for a specific heater we carry, so they are not paired here.
We carry 100 sauna heaters. 31 are wood-burning stoves, which take no electric control, so this guide covers the other 69. Of those, 16 have a control we sell named by the manufacturer for that exact model, 5 have built-in controls, 18 have a manufacturer statement about the kind of control they take without naming a model, and 30 are not covered here yet.
Built in or separate?
- Controls built in: Harvia Cilindro PC60, Harvia Cilindro PC80, Harvia KIP45B, Harvia KIP60B, Harvia KIP80B. Each has its controls on the heater itself, so it runs without a separate control.
- Saunum Air 5, Saunum Air 7, Saunum Air L 10, Saunum Air L 13, Saunum Air L 15: the manufacturer requires a separate control, and the only one it allows is the Saunum AirIQ.
- HUUM HIVE 12, HUUM HIVE 15, HUUM HIVE 18, HUUM HIVE Mini 6, HUUM HIVE Mini 9, HUUM HIVE Mini 11: the manufacturer requires a separate control: a certified control panel designed for an electric sauna heater. The manual names no specific model, and none is included with the heater.
- HUUM CLIFF 6, HUUM CLIFF 9, HUUM CLIFF 11, HUUM CLIFF Mini 4, HUUM DROP 4, HUUM DROP 6, HUUM DROP 7, HUUM DROP 9, HUUM STEEL 6, HUUM STEEL 9, HUUM STEEL 11, HUUM STEEL Mini 4: the manufacturer allows a certified control panel designed for an electric sauna heater. The manual names no specific model, and none is included with the heater.
Controls the manufacturer pairs with each heater
Each row is a pairing the heater's manufacturer publishes for that exact model. Where the manual pairs them only at a particular supply or connection, that condition is shown; your electrician confirms the supply and connection from the heater's installation manual. A pairing for one output or supply version does not carry over to another.

If your heater is not listed
- Harvia KIP45W (208V, 3-Phase), Harvia KIP60W (208V, 3-Phase), Harvia KIP80W (208V, 3-Phase), Harvia Virta Combi 8, Harvia Virta Combi 9, Harvia Virta Combi 11 (240V, 1PH): the manufacturer's manual names compatible controls by model number, but we hold no manufacturer document matching those model numbers to a control we sell, so no pairing is listed.
- Harvia Spirit SP90E: the manufacturer's documents disagree or could not be read with certainty, so the pairing is on hold.
- For 23 more, we do not yet hold a manufacturer statement about controls.
How to check your exact model
- Note your heater's exact model, output and supply version.
- Open its installation manual on our manuals page and find the control units listed for that exact model.
- Check the room against the heater's published range in the sauna heater sizing guide.
- Circuit, breaker and wire sizes come from that manual. Have a licensed electrician confirm them before installation.
