Custom Sauna Kit Sizes: Room Volume and Heater Options
Our custom indoor sauna kits come in 21 room sizes. The kit is the sauna's interior; your builder provides the room around it. Each size offers its own heater choices, and a sauna heater is included only when you choose one in the Heater option.
A closer look at two sizes
- 5′ × 6′: 30 sq ft of floor and 240 cu ft of room; its Heater option offers 8 kW.
- 7′ × 8′: 56 sq ft of floor and 448 cu ft of room; its Heater option offers 9 kW.
Which size suits your space
Start from the floor space you can frame. Sizes are grouped here by floor area:
- Compact rooms (12–30 sq ft): 3′ × 4′, 4′ × 4′, 4′ × 5′, 4′ × 6′, 5′ × 5′, 4′ × 7′, 5′ × 6′. Heater choices from 3.5 to 8 kW.
- Mid-size rooms (32–48 sq ft): 4′ × 8′, 5′ × 7′, 6′ × 6′, 5′ × 8′, 6′ × 7′, 6′ × 8′. Heater choices from 6 to 8 kW.
- Large rooms (49–72 sq ft): 7′ × 7′, 6′ × 9′, 7′ × 8′, 6′ × 10′, 7′ × 9′, 8′ × 8′, 7′ × 10′, 8′ × 9′. Heater choices from 8 to 11 kW.

Every size comes in Thermo Aspen / Alder, Thermo Poplar or Western Red Cedar.
What every kit includes
Pre-cut interior materials for its room size: 1×4 tongue & groove wall and ceiling boards, bench materials (20 inches deep), matching wood duckboard flooring, upper and lower vent grills, a vapor barrier, a marine-grade vapor-proof wall light and an all-glass sauna door (frame 27.2″ × 78.7″).
Framing, insulation, electrical wiring and the exterior wall finish are supplied separately.
Planning the room
- Frame the room to the kit's size: each kit is pre-cut for a room of its size, and every kit is built for a ceiling height of 8 ft.
- Door: leave a 28″ × 80″ rough opening for the glass door.
- Heater: larger rooms take larger heaters, and each kit offers the outputs paired with its size. How sauna heaters are matched to room volume explains the match.
- Electrical: the heater's manual sets the supply it needs, and a larger heater needs more of it, so ask your electrician early. 120V or 240V explains how to check the exact model.
